February 24, 2015-AP reports that Congo forces launched an offensive against the FDLR in South Kivu. Soldiers deployed in the area found the FDLR, composed of former Rwandan genocidaires, inland from the town of Uvira.
Radio Okapi, a UN-backed radio station in the region, reported that a military officials told reporters at the station the three FDLR fighters had been killed.
The Congolese army says that they have captured all of the FDLR’s strongholds in the area. MONOSCU says its is unaware of the operation.
