MEDREK Elects Prof. Beyene Petros as its Chair

 

Addis Ababa, 10 November 2014 (WIC) - The Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity (MEDREK) elected new Chairperson in its 10th General Assembly here yesterday.

Prof. Beyene Petros was elected Chairperson while the outgoing Chairperson Dr. Merara Gudina was elected as Party’s External Relations Head.

“We never give up. We peacefully and continuously struggle to bring about all-inclusive democracy in Ethiopia,” said the newly elected Chairperson.

Prof. Beyene said that the MEDREK has a ‘principle’ difference with the ruling party, not hostility. “We are ready to participate in the upcoming general election with a view to quenching thirst of our people to exercise their democratic rights,” he added.

Prof. Beyene said that MEDREK has informed Andinet party that it is expected to announce its stance until November 25 as National Electoral Board scheduled on same day to select election symbol. (EH)
