Ethiopian Opposition Leader Says Eritrea Aims to Destabilize Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, 15 September, 2015 (WIC)- The goal of the Eritrean People Libration Front (EPLF) is to weaken the solidarity of Ethiopia and destabilize the country, says Molla Assgedom, the former leader of the Tigray People Democratic Movement (TPDM), a group organized by EPLF to attack Ethiopia.

To fulfill its bad intention, the regime in Eritrea is determined to support and organize anyone who can do fulfill its objectives, said Molla.

The chairman of TPDM told to the editor of Ethiopia First Website that in his stay in Eretria he has been strongly inquiring the mission of the Eritrean regime. In doing so, the chairman underscores he has understood that EPLF’s goal is to destabilize Ethiopia so that the development endeavor of the country will be halted.

Though members of the group were there to fight in the interest of the Ethiopian public they assume to represent, the bad intention of the regime in Asmara forced them to change their stance. And hence, the group created an underground link with the Ethiopian government. That secret link opened a door for discussing important matters so that the destabilizing objectives of the regime in Asmara are curtailed, noted the chairman.

After thoroughly understanding the bad intention of the Eritrean regime, members of the movement who are well equipped defected from the regime in Asmara and successfully entered Ethiopia, he noted.

“The destabilizing force supported and organized by the outlawed Ginbot 7 and EPLF is a useless force that can do nothing on its own. Since we are well equipped, we have overrun the Shabia force that was trying to hinder our journey back to Ethiopia. That is why we were able to get back to Ethiopia in victory,” says Molla.

Molla Asgedom was the chairman of the core force, TPDM, created by Shabia. He was also the vice chairman of the larger recently created joint force which includes Ginbot 7 and TPDM and chaired by Birehanu Nega. The 800 well equipped members of the movement have entered Ethiopia on September 12, 2015.

“The reception of the people and the government is astonishing. Of course, we have expected such a warm welcome since it is our mother land. We acknowledge the Ethiopian people and government for that,” said Molla.
